Baltimore native ATTICA73 aka ARVAY ADAMS, has had a passion for sports and art. As a student at The Maryland Institute College of Art, Arvay would create paintings of sport figures dealing with idol worship. After graduation, his art remained sport based. We contacted Mr Adams, and he offered this background on his concept.

My first custom fitted was made at Gary Crosby’s at Madison Square Garden. It was on a NEW ERA blank and had a Portland Trailblazers tackle twill “A” sewn on to it. The last couple of years I have gotten back into customizing fitteds. I didn’t go the way of mass production as I wanted to do many different designs. I also wanted to do more than just a throwback. I needed the caps to have some history. Many of the caps I do have vintage patches that date back as far as the 60′s. The others that don’t are made with hand cut and sewn felt patches and accents. The felt gives the fitteds an old look; as it was the material of choice before embroidery was affordable. I love making caps of teams that have been forgotten and telling it’s history when someone stops to ask ” What team is that?” There is so much sports history out there that is not tapped into by the bigger cap companies
for many reasons. I guess that is the thing I like best about doing this work, I have no limitations. I believe that there is a market out there for hand customized fitteds. We all know how custom kicks have changed sneaker game. I will like to see that happen with fitted caps.
