STEP YOUR GAME UP: COOGI Exclusive Royalty Fitted Cap
Coogi Exclusive Royalty Hat is the brand’s first attempt at limited edition, luxury baseball hat. While their first at bat is no strike out, its clearly not a grand slam either. One obvious point is the swagger jacked copied packaging from New Era’s “Capture the Flag” program. We’ll play nice and call that flattery. [cough] Black and Gold is a classy color combination, and Metallic Gold only ups the ante. Unfortunately, oversized placement of the COOGI text on the front panels clashes with intricate linear details. The end result feels like an obnoxious billboard on your head. We say that to say this, the overall design would have benefited greatly if they did not take such a heavy handed approach to branding it. With this much going on visually there needs to be some nice negative space to keep your eyes from working overtime. File under “Doing too much.”
