Okay, the New York Yankees won their 27th World series, but ECAP CITY takes it back for a sec. In the 2000 World Series, the Yankees were against their cross-town rivals, the New York Mets, for the “Subway World Series.” Prior to the 2000 World Series, the Yankees were the ‘97-’98 & ‘98-’99 MLB World Series Champions. As for the Mets, it was their first World Series appearance since their championship season of 1986. This series favored the Yankees, marking a “Three-peat” for the reigning champs.
