Danchi, literally translated from Japanese as “group land”, is a large cluster of apartment buildings of particular style and design. It is usually associated with public housing as it was originally implemented throughout the 1950s-1970s to meet the demand of housing. In Japan today, danchi is a declining lifestyle as more people prefer to live in more modern and luxurious condominiums.

APPLEBUM implements the unique aspect of the danchi culture into their latest New Era 59Fifty fitted cap. Appropriately titled Danchi, the cap features an all over nocturnal collage print of various Danchis in Tokyo that extends around the crown to the visor and underbill. The Applebum “AB” logo adorns the front panels in raised White embroidery while the New Era flag and Applebum name is matched in the same White flat embroidery on the side and back, respectively.
