Baseball became an official medaled sport at the Summer Olympics at the 1992 Barcelona Games. The 1996 Olympic Games at Atlanta, Georgia were particularly memorable in baseball as it was the first Olympic Games where the United States medaled with a Bronze, beating out Nicaragua. Cuba went on to beat Japan in the Gold medal round. Sadly, the sport of baseball was ruled out of the Olympic Games, playing it’s last game series at the 2008 Beijing Games with South Korea beating out Cuba and the United States placing once again in 3rd.
Fans of the Olympics and baseball have the rare opportunity to own a commemorative pin of the 1996 Atlanta games. This pin features the 1996 Olympic Flame logo atop a Black baseball cap outlined in Gold. Atlanta 1996 is written across the brim of the cap. More pictures and auction details after the jump.
