Contrary to popular belief the St.Louis Browns have bear no relation to the modern day Cardinals. The only commonality between the two teams is that both called St.Louis home at one time or another. The city belonged to the Browns from 1902 – 1953, that’s when the Busch family brought the Cardinals to town, making the Browns second class citizens in their own town. This series of events prompted then owner Bill Veek to move the team to Baltimore and the rest is history. The Cincinnati Reds franchise has had more logos in their history then you can shake a stick at. For the most part they have all been solid but I definitely think this one is the best. The plain C is cool but it lacks something, it doesn’t convey the history of this historic franchise. The logo above was an alternate for the 1954 through 60 season and the character gives a sense of nostalgia, just check the handle bar mustache and pillbox cap. Available now at American Needle.

Yes I know this is a short brim hat. Believe me when I tell you that I’m no fan of this style of hat, but I am a fan of Major League baseball which makes this hat uniquely appealing. The 1917 White Sox dominated major league baseball and went on to win the World Series that year while setting a club record for wins in the process. This hat also holds historic value because it is the same exact hat that was worn by the infamous 1919 White Sox better known for the Black Sox scandal.
