Food. Fitteds. HOWFRESHEATS.com serves up a passion for both. H breaks down in layman’s terms fine dining and fashion with a healthy dose of sarcasm and swag. HowFreshEats has officially joined the Strictly familia as a contributing writer. Look out for his pull-no-punches take on the fitted cap scene soon. Pictured above is a HFE custom FRANK 151 F 59Fifty ala New Era. The man is known for his fetish for H fitted baseball caps, but made an exception with this one. We say, “Compliments to the chef.”

AF-1 aficionado, THE MAYOR (1000+ Air Forces Strong / Heir To The Throne) has his debut in our Well Worthy feature with a story to tell. In his own words, he explains this bespoke Nike Air Force 1 and NEW ERA fitted baseball cap connection. Sit back, relax and take notes.

“With 17 Bespokes created this was one of my toughest challenges, but there is a method to my madness. There is a conventional way to do Bespokes which consists of picking out your materials, sitting with a designer and bringing your creation to life. Me, I work backwards- I walk straight into the studio, sit at the computer, glance over at the materials, close my eyes for a few minutes and I normally come up with a hit. With this particular shoe, I was stuck. I spend two appointments which is about two hours each to drum up a shoe with no luck.” - THE MAYOR

CUSTOM CORNER : HANYA

Filed under: Custom Corner — MadCapsules at 11:00 pm on Wednesday, September 16, 2009

This CUSTOM CORNER submission comes from a long time STRICTLY FITTEDS reader as well as cap enthusiast who wished to remain anonymous. Pictured above is a pair of genuine New Era 59Fifty fitted caps. The process is detailed as follows and truly is the epitome of the phrase “By Any Means Necessary”.

Both hats were done about a year ago but I forgot about the project until I recently did some cleaning. The hat on the left started it’s life as a Pittsburgh Pirates New Era MLB 59Fifty Authentic while the hat on the right started out as a Black and Green LA Dodgers New Era 59Fifty cap. I started the customization process by manually pulling/unstitching each thread one by one through the face of the cap, as opposed to the inside. This process is very tedious and time consuming. Luckily for me I don’t do much at work so I actually completed both hats in 2 shifts. The hat on the left took about 4-5 hours to unstitch while the hat on the left took about 8 hours due to some mistakes on my fault. To anyone looking to replicate the process, I suggest investing in a good pair of sewing scissors and some durable tweezers. After getting ALL the embroidery out of the cap, I had my embroidery connect stitch on the custom design of a Hanya, a Japanese devil or demon, which my connect designed on his embroidery machine from the tattoo on my back. I wanted to have raised embroidery like the New Era hats originally had but the design is too thin. The MLB man on the back of both hats also got unstitched. This process took about 4 hours each since the embroidery is very tight. All in all, i’m happy with the way my caps came out although it was time consuming. Unfortunately I can’t supply any more pics since I gave away both caps as gifts to close friends but I do plan to do a couple of more in the near future.

MATEUSZ SYPIEN displays some of his concept samples of New Era 59Fiftys. From the looks of these, the mock ups are done in paper. Smart and fast design choice. Really digging the Playstation controller. Hopefully someone can turn these concepts into a reality. Check out more pics after the jump as well at Mateusz Sypien’s Portfolio Site.

Dealing with fitted baseball caps day in and day out, you see a lot of customized pieces. Styles range from custom embroidery to hand drawn art. This method goes above and beyond that; specifically swapping bills by removing the stitching. The end result is a cross breed in the quest for the perfect combination of colors. This method seems a bit extreme, but we applaud the effort.
