Ok, ok, ok. Some of us are attention whores, needing to be the center of attention every bleeding second of the hour. Some of us are opportunists, that seek the spotlighting at strategic moments. Some of these people are our friends, family members, co-workers and neighbors. For those loud personalities in your life, I suggest the fitted above. This is not the first time we have seen baseball caps customized with sequins Swarovski crystals, so somewhere there is a market for this type of sequinslunacy style. Via YouTube, TheLavishKing is hocking his wares online. Very simply and effectively the “bling-factor” of the custom work is shown. It may not be for you, but to each his/her own.

Once again fine artist JAI CRUZ takes it there with his original custom fitted baseball caps. Here is one of his latest creations. Using a Hunter Green FRANK 151 59fifty as a base, he’s made a Bronx special. The front and side panels feature angels wings with project buildings woven in the composition. The detail has to be seen up close to be fully appreciated. The finishing move is found on the back panels. The late great Christopher “Big Pun” Rios portrait seals the deal. We were able to take snap shots of this private commision just before it was mailed out.

New York based conceptual artist Ulysses Pizarro used a fitted baseball cap and tin foil to illustrate his views on urban life and paranoia. Drawing from his own personal experiences, he created a simple visual metaphor that taps into the mental illness of schizophrenia and the grind on the street level hustler that uses his cap as camoflague from the authorities. *Note: The device depicted above does not offer protection from penetrating mind control radio waves.

It’s been a hot minute since we’ve had an installment to our Custom Corner feature. This break in the silence is brought to us by cap collector and customizer MARKO. Marko was born in Serbia but left in 1992 as a result of the Civil War in Yugoslavia. He and his family settled in New York. QUINTIN CO. topped off their 2009 year by holding a art show along side with 50 of the worlds top graffiti artist in Japan. The fitted 5 panel caps where all hand customized by the artist such as Big Foot, Amos, Gemma, and Sixten to name a few. No word if these caps will be made available for sale to the public. Artist and customizer JAI CRUZ has returned with a new custom baseball cap. No doubt you have seen NEW ERA’s licensed TRANSFORMER 59Fifty fitteds. In his signature style, JAI has “transformed” the separate panels into a tribute to the Autobot leader Optimus Prime. This LA Dodger cap is covered in detailed colored hand drawn illustrations. JAI rarely disappoints. This custom should be appearing on eBay shortly for those interested in owning this piece of artwork.

French fashion designer JC de CASTELBAJAC incorporates larger than life Lego block New Era 59Fifty fitted caps into his latest lineup. Each piece is over the top in design, incorporating various elements such as mohawks or tower spikes. JCDC used a variety of bright color blocks. These scream for attention to the point that it’s impossible to ignore the elephant in the room. The iconic New Era 59Fifty size sticker is stuck to the underbill to show proof of authenticity. No word on if the caps themselves will be available for sale or if they were used just as props.
