You and I have something very serious to discuss if you viewed the picture above and believed the combination to be an ideal match. But first, know that I’m speaking to you with respect and concern, not judgment. Never judgment.

Fitted Caps, Obsession & the Economy

Filed under: Editorial — Kareem at 11:00 pm on Tuesday, August 2, 2011

Jobs, jobs, jobs. That’s what people are aching for, the recession of 2008 brought this country to its knees and the pain hasn’t stopped since. I drove by an unemployment office a few weeks back and saw a line of people wrapped around the corner. Its tough to see any light at the end of this tunnel but every now and then you come across something that starts to make the cup look half full. I Stumbled upon an article the other day that made me feel good about my obsession with fitted hats, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the hard earned money I spend on fitteds is helping bolster the economy. According to the Wall Street Journal, New Era will be adding 140 jobs to the company in the near future. This news should  allow my fellow fitted addicts to take comfort in the fact that your recent hat buying binge actually helped create jobs, so don’t sweat the couple of hundred bucks you just spent because it was for the common good. Maybe you should run for political office, you could represent a new political party; The Fittedpendentrepublicrats

Honoring Randy Moss and the Way He Rocked His Fitted Cap

Filed under: Editorial,Sports — Angel Navedo at 5:00 am on Tuesday, August 2, 2011

The great Randy Moss decided to send his shoulder pads to storage and call it a career yesterday, quietly announcing his intentions to retire after a memorable and (mostly) dominant 13-year career. Every statistic on Moss’ stat sheet is impressive enough to cement his place in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

His 14,858 receiving yards and 153 touchdowns—including the 23 he caught in 2007 with the Patriots for the single-season record—are undeniably impressive numbers for a talented receiver whose personality often transcended the game. He was an enigma — with blazing speed, incredible hands, and a boulder on his shoulder.

An Honest Discussion about Stickers & Fitteds

Let’s be clear: I’m not singling out Jadakiss, nor am I targeting him as the sole recipient of my drawn ire. Mr. J-to-the-muah is a very talented rapper whose music I find thoroughly good. However, the troubling decision to keep the bar-code sticker below his fitted’s brim is part of a long-standing style and trend I’ve never appreciated. Also, it’s the only picture I found of someone wearing a new fitted with the price tag still attached.

To match or not match?

Filed under: Editorial — Peabe at 11:00 pm on Thursday, July 28, 2011

match-or-no-match1

Now before you give me the sideways look, I don’t mean you should go out with 2 different shoes, a fitted and a float tube. Nor do I mean you should walk out in an all orange jumper with a matching fitted and Af1s, that could get you in some trouble. What I’m talking about is fully matching your gear from head to toe colorwise or not matching colors at all but finding that balance. Sure one is definitely easier than the other but that also doesn’t necessarily mean one style is better.

Sure doing everything up according to one hue may seem easier but sometimes you need to just K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid, not the band). Doing the “non-matching, matching” definitely takes more effort and finesse which can either have you looking real fresh or like a train crashed into a paint factory full of hobos. No one style wins but I try to go the “non-matching, matching” route myself with more subtle colors. What do you do? Let us know via Twitter account. +MORE

‘Fro No! A Case Of Fitted Cap Abuse.

The fitted baseball cap is an key part of many men’s wardrobe. Its versatility unrivaled, its utility invaluable. Up until today I thought the fitted hat had no limit on what it could do, but as of this moment that belief has been shattered. While perusing the Internet I stumbled upon a picture of Oakland A’s outfielder Coco Crisp donning a fitted hat with a ginormous fro, it was a travesty to say the least. Now I know we’ve all had bad hair days in which a fitted hat was just what the doctor ordered but it looks like Coco is trying to use the fitted to cover up a bad hair year! Or maybe he jumped into the hot tub time machine and brought the seventies back with him. My heart goes out to the hat as it holds on to Coco’s Afro for dear life. Somebody call the FPS (Fitted Protective Services) this is clearly fitted abuse!

Making the rounds on the net as we do on the daily I came across ST ALFRED’s latest range of tees, showing support for the Bulls run for post-season greatness. Looking at the designs, I thought these would be great on a fitted. So, I threw together some “what-ifs” designs. Looking at the results, this might become a semi regular feature. Maybe.
