PAC SUN’s SURF TEAM is fresh off a 1st place Gold victory at BILLABONG ISA WORLD GAMES in Costa Rica. At the games, Team USA represented with a special Team USA New Era 59Fifty fitted baseball cap. The cap is a two-tone White crown, Navy bill with the Team USA logo on the front panels. Accompanying the Navy bill are matching eyelets, button, and New Era flag hit. As of right now, this cap is a team rider exclusive. Congratulations to Team USA on their well proven victory.

Pictured above are cards from the 1958 Topps baseball card set. Fix your eyes on the caps. This prototype San Francisco Giants SF lock up design never made it onto the field. Apparently this prototype was developed in the fall of 1957. After the jump is an image of Hall Of Famer, Willie Mays wearing the same cap during a press conference.

The beauty you see above was PROTOTYPE’s first University of Hawaii Warriors custom New Era 59Fifty fitted cap. A low key release, it was dropped back in 2007 and sold out just as fast as news spread. Always going big, Prototype chose to utilize a Denim base with an icy Blue University of Hawaii logo. Beautiful Blue contrast stitching tops this gem off. Low stock and high demand has given this cap it’s own cult status commanding nearly double the retail price on the reseller market. This is definitely one cap I wish I did not sleep on…

NEW BALANCE and 686 collaborated earlier in 2009 with the Times NB580 pack. This was the predecessor release to the much more hyped Supernova collaboration pack. Featured within the pack was a New Era 59Fifty fitted cap that sports both the New Balance and 686 logos in tonal Black atop a Black base. The cap also consists of a striking Blue New Era hit, White button, and alternating colored eyelets and visor stitching. Currently sold out on www.686.com.

LEADERS drops evidence of an unreleased Tiffany-inspired LDRS New Era 59Fifty fitted cap sample by MIKKEY DIAMOND. This cap comes with a Black base, Tiffany Blue bill, Silver button and underbill, with a predominantly White LDRS logo offset by a Silver D. As the name suggests, it is possibly a prototype and/or a follow up to the MIKKEY DIAMOND 59Fifty fitted cap released earlier this year in a reverse colorway with the same LDRS logo. So far Leaders has no release date set so sit back and drool over this beauty.

AKOMPLICE sneaked this unreleased New Era 59Fifty fitted cap into their Season 11 lookbook. This cap features a Black base with Grey AK logo, eyelets, New Era flag hit, and underbill. A strong yet basic colorway that is sure to be a hit if ever released.

Here we can see an unreleased AKOMPLICE New Era 59Fifty fitted cap rocked during Akomplice’s FALL ‘09 collection preview. The colors are reminiscent of their Summer ‘09 collection yet the design looks related to the Tiffany Blue V.S.O.P. fitted cap from this season’s Holiday ‘09 collection.

padres 72 mystery fitted baseball cap wide panel chevron

UNIWATCH happens to be one of our favorite blogs for all things related to sports uniforms and design. They recently ran a post about an rare San Diego Padres baseball cap that was worn during the ‘72 season. The twist is the wide-spanning Yellow panel on the front panels. Several readers from the era commented on the rare style, sparking a full on historical mystery. Hardcore Padres fan Robert Walker offered: “That cap was only used in ’72, only on Sundays, and (from what I have found) only for home games.” UNIWATCH is currently on a fact finding mission to confirm the statement. Here’s a rare look into a JONATHAN DA LYNN sample that was recently given away to one lucky JDL twitter follower. This is a Green fitted version of the popular “Hooah” logo that is on this current season’s Hooah Camo snapback. This cap features a leather bill with only 2 total pieces in existence.

NEW BALANCE and 686 partner up to bring the NB686 Super Nova Collection. This special collaboration package consists of a New Era 59Fifty fitted cap that shares the same Orange-Blue color scheme as the other contents of the set; a MT580 shoe, NB686 snowboarding boot, and jacket. The Orange based cap features the 686 logo on the front left panel and the New Balance logo on the front right panel, both in Blue, topped off with matching White eyelets and New Era flag. The underbill of the cap features the same speckled pattern that can be found on the MT580 shoe. This box set is extremely limited to 20 pieces.
